James, what’s the best protein powder? I get this question A LOT!! Protein is an essential part to building a functional body and maintaining throughout life. In short, protein is the building blocks to muscle. The recommended amount depends on your body-weight and should come in between .8 and 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day. For me at 184 lbs, that means I should get between 140-184 grams. The more protein you consume, the more satiated you feel and the more fat you burn.
Sometimes getting this in can be a challenge, so this is where supplementing with protein powders can help with up to 30% of that daily protein recommendation. There are literally thousands of brands on the market nowadays and a variety of types of protein from Milk to Vegan, and variations off that (i.e. whey, casein, pea, etc.). Navigating this land field can be a beast, and not only that, you have to make sure that they have quality protein.
I’ve saved you some time and am writing up this non-paid recommendation of the brand I trust and have been using for the past few years. Legion is a brand that I stand behind based on my consumption and research. They use grass-fed ingredients and are third party tested for heavy metals, which are common in most of today’s protein powders. You have my word that Legion is the whey to go! Ha! See what I did there….lol!!
When you choose a protein powder and are challenged with what flavor to get, always know that you get the most versatility out of chocolate and vanilla and regardless of brand, in my years of using protein powders, I’ve learned this the hard way and was stuck with a nasty flavor that I thought would be great. Most companies do decent flavors with these two, but look no further. Because of their quality, they can be pretty pricey, but they ALWAYS have sales. I recommend only buying during a holiday sale. they literally do one for each holiday, I kid you not!
